Glufosinate Ammonium Label Requirements
I. Basic Requirements
1. Glufosinate ammonium labels must comply with the "Pesticide Management Regulations" and the "General Rules for Pesticide Product Labels." For foreign companies, local pesticide management regulations should be followed. The label should include information such as the pesticide name, company name, product batch number, pesticide registration number, or temporary pesticide registration number, pesticide production permit number, or pesticide production approval document number, as well as information about the pesticide's active ingredients, content, weight, product performance, toxicity, usage, application techniques, methods of use, production date, expiration date, and precautions.
2. The label content should be based on pesticide registration test results and related data. If test results indicate potential harm to production, business, users, crops, the environment, etc., it should be clearly labeled on the label, along with preventive measures.
3. Label information must be truthful and should not contain unsupported or exaggerated descriptions. It should not have an obvious advertising nature.
4. Text on the label must be clear and legible. The pesticide product name, common names of active ingredients, content, and toxicity indicators should be prominently displayed on the label.
5. If the label includes foreign language translations, the translations must be accurate to ensure they convey the same meaning.
6. The size of printed characters should prioritize readability and clarity, using larger font sizes whenever possible. Label design should be clear and straightforward, avoiding excessive decorations and unnecessary complexity.
II. Label Content
(I) Product Name and Content
The common name and content of glufosinate ammonium should be labeled in accordance with the format in the electronic pesticide label database.
(II) Usage Range and Application Methods
The applicable crops, target pests, dosage, and application methods should be listed in tabular format. It is strictly prohibited to arbitrarily expand or modify the applicable crops, target pests, dosage, and application methods. Dosages should be expressed in the units specified by national regulations. For field crops, the amount used per acre should be specified (in grams or milliliters, or pounds per acre). For specialized applications, the corresponding usage ratios should be indicated. For seed coatings and similar products, the seed-to-pesticide ratio should be included, with accurate conversions. The format can be referenced as follows:
Crop (or Range)
Target Pests (or Purpose)
Dosage of Active Ingredient
Amount of Product per Acre (Dilution ratio or seed-to-pesticide ratio)
Application Method
(III) Company Information
The label should include the company's name, address, phone number (including area code), fax, and postal code. The name of the pesticide production company must match the name on the registration certificate and should not be changed arbitrarily.
(IV) Product Description
The product description should provide detailed information about the product category, mode of action, mechanism of action, approved registered crops and target pests, usage effects, key usage techniques, and other relevant information. The product description must be truthful and conform to the normative language required by national pesticide standards. It should not expand the product's usage range through phrases like "recommended use" or through images of crops or target pests.
(V) Precautions
1. In the absence of corresponding test data, the label should not contain information regarding the mixing of the pesticide with other pesticides.
2. For long-lasting residual herbicides that may impact subsequent crops, it must be clearly labeled with the impact and specify crops that should not be planted and the appropriate planting times. For other pesticides, relevant requirements should be indicated based on their characteristics.
3. Mixing methods, usage techniques, complementary cultivation techniques, etc., should be indicated.
4. Safety intervals and the maximum number of applications per season should be specified.
5. Resistance management requirements should be indicated.
6. The label should specify the impact on beneficial organisms (such as bees, birds, silkworms, earthworms, natural enemies, fish, aquatic organisms, etc.) and the environment, along with preventive measures during use.
7. It should specify the protective equipment to be worn when using the pesticide, safety precautions, and how to avoid accidents.
8. When necessary, requirements for opening containers and disposal methods for empty containers should be stated.
(VI) Toxicity Classification and Symbols
Pesticide product labels should classify product toxicity based on toxicity test results. Toxicity symbols and text should be appropriately sized and placed prominently on the label.
(VII) Poisoning First Aid
Detailed information about the symptoms of pesticide poisoning, first aid, and treatment measures (ingestion, inhalation, eye contact, skin contact, etc.) should be provided. If there are specific antidotes, they should be clearly mentioned, along with recommendations for consulting a doctor. In case of emergencies, a poison control hotline should be provided.
(VIII) Storage and Transportation
The label should provide detailed information about:
1. Environmental requirements for storage conditions, such as light, temperature, humidity, etc.
2. Special requirements for safe transportation and handling.
3. Hazard characteristics and markings during storage or transportation, such as flammability, explosiveness, etc.
4. Other considerations for storage or transportation, such as keeping pesticides out of reach of children, avoiding mixing with food, beverages, utensils, feed, seeds, etc.
(IX) Product Quality Guarantee Period
The product's quality guarantee period must be consistent with the quality guarantee period specified in the product standards.
(X) Net Content of the Product
The net content of the product is generally represented in Chinese characters. For solid pesticide products, it is expressed in mass; for liquid pesticides, it can be expressed in mass or volume. For special pesticide products, the net content should be indicated based on the product's characteristics.
(XI) Pictograms
The label should include pictograms that promote safe pesticide use. Pictograms should be arranged in accordance with the actual operational requirements and in the proper sequence. Similar categories of pictograms, such as storage, operation, advisory, and warning pictograms, should be grouped together and enclosed in boxes.
