Glufosinate Ammonium Herbicide: Efficient and Safe Weed Control for Various Crops
Introduction:
Glufosinate ammonium herbicide is a highly effective and safe solution for weed control in crops. Its primary mechanism involves absorption through the green stems and leaves of plants, exhibiting both internal absorption and woody tissue conduction, without impacting soil activity. The herbicide inhibits the activity of glutamine synthetase, leading to disrupted glutamine synthesis, nitrogen metabolism imbalance, ammonium ion accumulation, cell membrane damage, inhibition of photosynthesis, and ultimately, plant withering, achieving the goal of weed control.
Product Characteristics:
1. Quality Features:
- Stability: Produced using an automated intelligent synthesis route, stored in sealed filling reactors of 20-ton capacity to ensure stability in each batch.
- Safety: Low toxicity, light odor, and the water formulation exhibit excellent environmental safety.
- Physical and Chemical Properties (solubility, atomization performance, spreading, adhesiveness, clarity, transparency, and odor): High-quality additives ensure maximum dissolution, perfect spreading, and long-lasting efficacy adhesiveness. The use of PC material for packaging allows for small-batch customization.
- Rapid Weed Control: Weeds cease growth within 1 day of application, turn yellow in 3 days, die in 7 days, and reach the peak efficacy period in 15 days—significantly faster than glyphosate within 10 days.
- Extended Residual Period: Residual period in the rainy season is up to 25 days, in the dry season up to 45 days. This is 3-4 times the control time of glyphosate, reducing the number of applications throughout the year.
- Broad Spectrum Weed Control: A new mechanism for weed control with no cross-resistance with other herbicides. Particularly effective against glyphosate-resistant weeds such as Johnsongrass, smallflower umbrella sedge, goosegrass, and common purslane.
- Crop Safety and Wide Applicability: No residual soil activity, weak internal absorption conduction. Ensures safety for crops and subsequent crops. Suitable for directed inter-row spraying in crops such as wood, vegetables, corn, tobacco, field edges, and fallow fields.
- Mechanism of "accumulated ammonium killing" rapidly raises the ammonium ion levels in weed plants, quickly killing weeds, and returning nitrogen fertilizer absorbed by weeds from the soil to the field as a form of quickly absorbable nitrogen "ammonium ion."
4. Safety for Humans, Soil, and Environment:
- As a phosphonic acid-like quasi-natural chemical sensing bio-source herbicide, it is safe for users, beneficial organisms, and ecological safety. The soil half-life is 2-8 days, degrading rapidly with no risk of enrichment and soil compaction.
Product Application:
Suitable for shallow-rooted crops and directed inter-row spraying in large-field crops to control weeds during the vigorous growth period.
Suitable Crops and Usage Methods:
- Fruit Trees (banana, lychee, grapes, citrus, peach, plum, etc.): 50-75 L/km², recommended for directed inter-row spraying with 100ml glufosinate ammonium mixed with 15kg water when weeds are fully grown, and 10-30cm during the vigorous growth period.
- Vegetables (melon, beans, chili, leafy vegetables, etc.): 25-65 L/km².
- Other Crops (corn, tobacco, sorghum, cotton, flowers, etc.): 38-65 L/km².
- Field Edges, Fallow Fields: 100-130ml/15kg water.

Maximizing Glufosinate Efficacy:
1. Ensure Application Dosage: Choose an appropriate dosage based on weed size, with a concentration not lower than 100ml/15kg water. Increase the dosage for reproductive growth and perennial weeds to 100-140ml/15kg water.
2. Effective Herbicide Amount – Spray to Saturation: Effective contact with stems and leaves is crucial for glufosinate efficacy. Completely spray the entire weed to fully utilize the herbicide's "accumulated ammonium killing" advantage, achieving the goal of killing weeds at the roots. Ensure the application amount per unit area is sprayed to saturation. In fruit orchards, the amount of water used per acre should not be less than 55kg, and for inter-row weeding in vegetables and corn, the water usage per acre should not be less than 40kg.
3. Water Quality Requirements: Glufosinate ammonium is dulled by soil, losing its herbicidal activity. Therefore, water quality should be clear, avoiding turbidity or the use of sewage, waste water, dead water, muddy water, rainwater, etc.
4. Weather and Climate Selection: Rain within 6 hours affects glufosinate ammonium absorption and efficacy. Low temperatures, drought, overcast weather slow down weed killing. Strong wind and heavy dew can also affect glufosinate ammonium efficacy. Select the growth vigorous period for spraying after the weed-out period, especially for large and old perennial weeds, increase the dosage appropriately.
5. Secondary Dilution: Glufosinate ammonium weeding requires farmers to perform secondary dilution (three times water addition and stirring) to fully exploit its advantages.
Precautions:
1. Glufosinate ammonium is a systemic herbicide, avoid the drift of the liquid to neighboring crop stems and leaves to prevent herbicidal damage.
2. When the crop row spacing is less than 75cm, install a protective cover to prevent drift to the crop.
3. Do not mix with paraquate, be cautious near silkworms, and use near mulberry orchards.
4. After spraying, clean the spraying equipment.
